Anchoring and Lead Climbing Classes
Anchor class is designed to provide intensive top rope anchor instruction to Climbing 1 or Climbing 2 graduates who wish to learn how to set their own top rope anchors and learn how to lead climb.
This class provides a comprehensive two-day introductory course on the proper use of climbing protection and on setting bomb-proof top rope anchors. Students learn to set bolted anchors and natural anchors on BFRs (big freakin' rocks) and BFTs (big freakin' trees); they learn how to set bombproof placements of removal protection using traditional gear including hexes, stoppers/wedges, tri-cams and spring-loaded camming devices (SLCDs).
The "removable pro" lesson continues as students set practice anchors.
The weekend culminates with students setting their own anchor using natural pro (under the supervision of your guide) and climbing on it.
Participants will receive a copy of The Mountain Madness Top-Rope Book, covering information presented in class.
A minimum of three people is required for this class. If fewer than the minimum is registered by the Thursday immediately prior to class, the class will be canceled and participants may reschedule for another date.
